The Cuban Revolution is not only concerned in teaching arts to the masses, but also to be a part of it, said Indian renowned intellectual Sonya Surbhi Gupta.

Gupta was among the speakers at a seminar organized by the Department of Germanic and Roman Languages Studies of the University of Delhi and the publishing house Lefword Books on the 50th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.

The academician pointed out that the Cuban revolutionary art is deeply linked to the ideas of Cuban National Hero Jose Marti, and that is why one of the first decisions of the revolutionary government of Fidel Castro was to create organizations like ICAIC and the nationwide illiteracy campaign.

The Cuban cinema was a great message for us, said Gupta, before other panelists talked about some other aspects of the art in revolutionary Cuba.

Culture and art go together in Cuba due to the intensive educational programs in force at the Arts Schools.
