Some 30 feature lengths and documentary films from Argentina, Colombia, Paraguay and Uruguay were displayed at this 1st LATINUY along exchanges with youth and students from Maldonado department.


The Cuban film "El Benny" and documentary films "Destinos" and "Montaña de Luz" by Guillermo Centeno, are on display at the closing day of the 1st LATINUY 2009 Film Festival, running from November 4 in Punta del Este, Uruguay.

  "El Benny," a 2006 production by Jose Luis Sanchez tours movie goers into the life of world famed Cuban singer, composer and conductor Benny More, a.k.a. Barbaro del Ritmo.

Sunday's program includes Venezuelan drama "Macuro" (2008), by Hernan Jabes, the Ecuadorian documentaries "Este Maldito País," "El Lugar Donde Se Juntan los Polos," by Juan Martin Cueva, "AVC, del Sueño al Caos," by Isabel Davalos and Velasco Ibarra, and "Retrato de un Monarca Andino" by Andres Barriaga.

Some 30 feature lengths and documentary films from Argentina, Colombia, Paraguay and Uruguay were displayed at this 1st LATINUY along exchanges with youth and students from Maldonado department.

The organizing committee plans to grant through this annual festival access to quality materials featuring Latin American topics, scenes and identity, making it an attraction for producers and directors.

The Latin American movie has continued to keep its trend and has reached remarkable productions
