Calderon was part of the technical collective of the volleyball team headed by  Eugenio Goerge, Granma newspaper reported in an article recalling the work of
the outstanding trainer.

The coach took the team to Sydney 2000 Olympics, and to Athens 2004, where the
Cubans took the Bronze.

A very committed and demanding professional, Calderon never boasted about his
personal success; he was respectful and modest. He left his legacy to her daughter Rosir Calderon , who currently is a star with the Cuba Volleyball team.
