An International Course on Journalism and Ecology begins in the Havana
Journalists from Argentina, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Chile, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Cuba are attending the course, which will run through July 3rd.

During the course, participants will analyze the responsibility of journalists and their organizations in connection with the current neoliberal globalization of communications, economy, politics and human society.

“It is essential that all journalists of the continent stay updated so that they have an exact idea of the urgencies of today’s world,” said Antonio Molto Martorell, Director of the Jose Marti International Institute of Journalism, affiliated to the Latin American Federation of Journalists.

“This course is an opportunity to analyze the complex world about which we report, reflect and interpret,” he added.

The program of the event includes lectures and workshops as well as a visit to a Cuban biosphere reserve.

Renowned specialists will give lectures on the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA), globalization, new technologies, religion, world economy, bio-fuels, sustainable use of water, and tourism, among other topics.
