After her arrival in Cuba, the woman presented a sore throat on June 3rd, and cough and expectoration the next day. On the fifth, she went to the Family Doctor´s office as usual proceedings requested from international travelers, but she denies any symptoms, the note explains.
Following persistent respiratory symptoms and fever, the woman looked for medical assistance at the local health care center, where she was assisted and transferred to the IPK hospital where the diagnosis was confirmed through virological isolation.
The patient is progressing well in medical terms, reads the note and adds that health authorities are currently doing clinical epidemiological studies on persons who had direct contact with the patient. Those persons have been hospitalized for such studies.
Meanwhile, Cuba health authorities continue to closely follow the evolution of the situation, explains the official note in which the Health Ministry reiterates that the country counts on all necessary means and resources to face the disease.
