With Fernandez on the piano Rivera sang Madrigal at the public's request and later another outstanding Cuban singer, Omara Portuondo came on stage to interpret 20 Años, along with the Puerto Rican singer.
Danny Rivera Sinfonico was a concert for love, friendship and freedom for the people. The Puerto Rican singer said he selected songs from the early stage of his career for the repertoire like: Amar o morir, Ódiame, Con las alas rotas, Mi viejo, Amada amante, Los hombres de rabia lloran, Jesucristo, Libre, and Tu pueblo, among others.
He was accompanied in some of the pieces by the vocal group Novel Voz, and the National Children's Choir, to whom Cubadisco 2009 was dedicated as well as to Puerto Rico.
To close the evening, Cuban improviser Alexis Diaz Pimienta came on stage to announce, in verse, that next year's festival will be dedicated to country music and to all the improvisers of the world.
