A master lecture on the current state of this specialty in the nation will be debated in the first working session of this event.

The scientific agenda includes diseases of the retina and treatment, vitreous surgery, cataract and phaco-emulsification, intraocular lenses, refractive surgery and glaucoma.

Cornea transplants, orbit pathology, reconstructive surgery, squinting, and pediatric ophthalmology are also on the list. National and foreign experts attended Monday some pre-congress courses on related issues.

The event includes lectures, round tables, a poster session and free topics, and is taking place at the Havana's International Conference Center until Friday.

Parallel to this is a trade fair, in which companies, labs and specialized firms will exhibit equipment, medicine, literature, and other related materials.
