Mexican Sergio Barrientos, Argentinean Ernesto Aza and Ecuadorian Augusto Moran, together with Danish Karsten Rasmusen, all of them International Masters, will be the foreigners participating in the tournament.

Four Grand Masters will take part, led by Lazaro Bruzon, current national champion, the only one with more than 2,600 ELO points.

The other Cuban GM will be Luis Manuel Pérez, Omar Almeida and Yuri Gonzalez.

The tournament will have an open group with 23 players to play 9 rounds.
