Toxoplasmosis diagnose kit developed in Holguin Cuba
The kit developed by the Immunology and Bioprepared Products Center in Holguin (CIBHO) enables doctors to detect the aggressive parasite, widely spread around the world and in Cuba as well, where studies show an incidence on 30 percent of the population.

The set turns out to be particularly relevant for people-at-risk, such as pregnant women, where the parasite might cause misscarriage and bring about further complications for newborns, stated the head of the center, Dr. Rolando Sanchez.

The kit is one of the outstanding progresses reported by the province branch of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA), contributing to the national total with six other items this year, adding to 18 in its record.

Maria Eugenia Torres, first representative of the ministry in the province, said that last year Holguin also contributed with the Trofin Vital tonic– by the aforementioned Center; And a software for the statistical control of patients suffering hip fracture, created by a branch of the local medical school.

CITMA as well allowed for the digitalization of the national geology resources availability, the radiological monitoring of the environment, and the assessing of seismic danger and vulnerability.
