The initiative is aimed at palliating the food deficit caused by a drop in marine captures in the insular platform.

In the case of Cienfuegos, the fish raising farms are located in the municipality of Abreus, where 30,000 fries per hectare were planted in the company's 13 tanks.

Experts estimated that some 20 tons of claria per tank will be captured.

The so-called catfish is an excellent option to increase food supplies to the domestic market, considering its high nutritional value, rapid growth and high yield.
