Invited to the first segment of the conference was Cuba’s ambassador to that Asian nation, Jose Fernandez de Cossio, who congratulated the Japanese for the 35th anniversary of the event, and offered a panorama of the Cuban economy in 2008, its achievements, challenges, difficulties and opportunities, as well as perspectives for the promotion of business ties between the two nations.

At the end of his speech, the diplomat highlighted that the world economic crisis and its effects on all countries require that Japanese and Cuban entrepreneurs work together, with realism and creativity, in order to find paths favoring the development of bilateral relations.
