Founded by Peter Gabriel, the festival will feature local artists, as well as others from Mali (Salif Keita, Amadou & Mariam and Smod), Colombia (Aterciopelados), France (Hindi Zahra), Israel (Mor Karbassi), Rumania, Slovenia and Serbia (Paprika Balkanicus), Britain (Rachel Unthank and The Winterset), Senegal (Seckou Keita Quarter), South Africa (BLK JKS), Burkina Faso (Víctor Deme) and Sahara (Toumast).
As it is already traditional, besides the artistic presentations and concerts, the event´s program will also include workshops, a film season and the section ‘ Mirada Womad´, which includes the screening of the documentaries that won awards at previous Womad film festivals.
