Cuban Movie Industry to advance over the next few years
During a special intervention in the 10th Santiago Alvarez In Memoriam International Documentary Festival, he referred to the strategy for that revitalization, concentrated in increasing the network of exhibition, the safeguard of movie heritage and the peak of production.

In that sense, he emphasized the program of investments in order to rescue the main cinemas of the country and to stop its deterioration, and to digitalize thousands of titles, from animated short movies, full-length fiction movies and documentaries that are part of the memory and culture of the nation.

He made reference to a yearly state fund, which will allow the production of 10 to 20 movies apart from continuing the impulse of the joint productions with other countries.

As an indispensable requirement of reanimation he pointed out the technological updating in an industry that is more and more expensive in the world.

Among the events promoted by the institute, he highlighted this encounter dedicated to the documentary genre and the one dedicated to young producers, which has grown since its first edition in 2000 and has become a space for debate and dialogue between the newer generations of moviemakers.

He remembered the decrease suffered by national moviemaking industry which in 1994 produced only a single short-movie.

He added that making movies in our country has always been daring, a miracle and a heresy and declared that that organization was one of the founding organizations of the revolution, with a well thought of cultural destination, that settled without loosing its way over these years of transformation.
