Honduran President Concludes Working Visit to Cuba
Speaking to reporters at the Jose Marti International Airport in Havana, Zelaya said he felt honored for having shaken the hand of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, with whom he had just spoken for more than an hour accompanied by his daughter, Xiomara Hortencia Zelaya, and Raul Castro.

“I bear witness to the extraordinary clarity and capacity of Fidel and also to his knowledge of the problems that are affecting the world today. I also appreciate his comments on international politics and his revolutionary dedication to building a more just world,” Zelaya said.

The Honduran leader stressed that the results of this visit were excellent and recalled that this was his second visit to Cuba in almost a year.

“We are working towards Latin American integration and we also want the world to recognize Cuba’s efforts and contribution to freedom, people’s rights and world development,” he added.

Zelaya was also seen off by the Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz.
