Economy Nobels at Cuban Event
The three laureates will give magisterial lectures in the plenary sessions of this event, taking place at the Havana's Conference Center, Granma newspaper reports Thursday.

Mundell, who won the prize in 1999, will speak on the financial crisis and international monetary systems, Engle (2003) will present a paper on financial volatility, and Phelps (2007) on altruism and social responsibility.

The international economic crisis will be on the table of the meeting, bringing together nearly 1,500 professionals, experts and academics from over 50 countries.

Figures like Honduras President Manuel Zelaya Rosales, Monsignor Marcelo Sanchez Sorondo, Bishop-Chancellor of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences at the Vatican, will participate in the event.

Also on the list are Egyptian Samir Amin, president of the Third World Forum, and representatives from the International Monetary Fund, World Bank and the World Trade Organization.
