Tribute to Cuban Filmmaker Humberto Solas at Huelva Film Festival
The event’s organizers pointed out that Solas (1941-2008) was a producer  closely linked to their Festival, in which he participated and received prizes since its first editions. Likewise, they acknowledge his contribution to Ibero-American cinematography and in their opinion he’s one of the unmistakable maestros of the seventh art.

Cantata de Chile (1975), by Solas, won the Colón de Oro Prize during the Spanish American contest in 1977 and, in 1987, he obtained a Special Mention from the Jury as Best Director with Un hombre de exito, Cubacine Web site reports.

The 34th Ibero-American Film Festival of Huelva will devote a season to the director of some of the most representative films of Cuban cinema, like Lucia (1968), considered among the 10 most important movies in the history of Ibero-American cinematography.

The tribute coincides with activities marking the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Cuban Film Institute, the main forerunner, distributor and promoter of Cuban productions over the past few decades, points out Cubacine.
