Renewable Energy Sources Boosted in Cuban Province
Seven wind monitoring units have been set up along the north coast of this province that measure the speed of air currents to determine where to locate full wind power plants.

More than 2,000 wind machines are currently being used to pull up water for farm animals, in particular cattle.

Other actions taken in the province to introduce renewable energy sources for the generation of electricity are the use of 149 photovoltaic cell units to capture the sun's heat and generate electricity; 39 biogas-producing plants have been set up, while biomass energy is used for power in sugar mills.
