Bruzon Wins Cubas National Chess Championship
After the ninth and last round, Bruzón equalized with GM Neuris Delgado and FIDE Masters Lelys Martínez (Santiago de Cuba) and Yusnel Bacallao, all of whom had scored 5.5 points.

However, as Bruzón was the only undefeated player, he benefited from the tiebreak system.

That way, Bruzón repeated his performance in previous championships in 2004, 2005 and 2007.

Delgado, Martínez and Bacallao finished second, third and fourth, respectively, with a score of 5.5 points. They were followed by GM Yuniesky Quesada, Fidel Corrales and Holden Hernández, with 4.5 points.

The national championship is the toughest chess tournament held in Cuba, as participants have an average ELO score of 2,529 points and has a FIDE category of XII.
