Morejon, a member of Cuba's Language Academy and director of Casa de las Americas Center of Caribbean Studies, adds the degree to her fruitful career and several other international awards.

The other awardees were US Physicist and Mathematician Michael Aizenman, professor at Princeton University, Brazilian Attorney Eros Roberto Grau and French Poet and Translator Sala Stetie.

The ceremony was attended by numerous French intellectuals and Cuban Ambassador Rogelio Sanchez Levis.

Nancy Morejon won Cuba's 2001 National Literary Award, the 2003 Replica of the Maximo Gomez Machete and the 2004 French Republic Mention for her literary work.
