Cuba Reports Good Health Indicators in 2008
Local health authorities said that the country's infant mortality rate last year dropped to 4.7 deaths per every 1,000 live births, including nine provinces whose rates were under 5.

In addition, Cuba's health system has a universal coverage, and is free of charge, accessible to all, regionalized and comprehensive.

Cuba also trains professionals, and applies and develops state-of-the-art technologies to treat several ailments.

The Caribbean island also produces vaccines, reagents, medications, medical equipment and biotechnological products, many of which have been patented in dozens of countries.
