The Cuban president was welcomed at the Jose Marti International Airport by Senior Vice President Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, reported national television.

In Costa de Sauipe, in Bahia, Brazil, Raul Castro attended the Latin American and Caribbean Summits on Development and Integration of the Southern Common Market and the Rio Group that gave Cuba official full membership.
