Cuban composer José María Vitier directs the premiere of the opera Santa Ana in Mexico

The staging was made by Lorena Maza and the cast included the tenors Fernando de la Mora and Hernán de Riego, the soprano Lourdes Ambriz and the mezzo sopranos Grace Echauri and Verónica Alexanderson.
The Cuban composer and pianist has created music for cinema, TV, theatre, ballet and dance. Among his most important works there are Misa Cubana, Salmo de las Américas, el Cantar del Caballero and Destino.
Vitier, who was nominated for an Oscar award for the soundtrack of the movie Fresa y Chocolate (Strawberry and Chocolate), will flight to Spain, after his presentation in Mexico, to record a new CD.
