11th International Festival of Young Jazz Musicians is opening in Cuba
The Cuban Jazz Band led by maestro Joaquin Betancourt is opening Thursday's show, accompanied by winners of previous editions of the Festival.

Twenty-seven talented young jazz musicians are playing the flute, guitar, vibraphone, clarinet, piano, and electric guitar to compete for the JoJazz 2008 prizes.

Composition is also part of the contest and competitors will be presenting a maximum of two previously unreleased pieces, free lineup and never performed before an audience.

Maestro Joaquin Betancourt presides over the JoJazz 2008 jury, and the festival is devoted to the work of Cuban jazz-man Bobby Carcasses.

Cuban record label Colibri is compiling the awarded pieces and other interesting proposals in its famous catalog "The young spirit of Cuban Jazz."
