Twenty-seven talented young jazz musicians are playing the flute, guitar, vibraphone, clarinet, piano, and electric guitar to compete for the JoJazz 2008 prizes.
Composition is also part of the contest and competitors will be presenting a maximum of two previously unreleased pieces, free lineup and never performed before an audience.
Maestro Joaquin Betancourt presides over the JoJazz 2008 jury, and the festival is devoted to the work of Cuban jazz-man Bobby Carcasses.
Cuban record label Colibri is compiling the awarded pieces and other interesting proposals in its famous catalog "The young spirit of Cuban Jazz."
