One of the conferences arousing the greatest interest is on new concepts and chances related to molecular recognition and vaccines, by renowned Cuban scientist Vicente Verez Bencomo, from the Molecular Chemistry Center of Cuba.
Conferences by Spanish investigators Juan A. Ayala Serrano, from the Autonomous University of Madrid, and Javier Laserna, from the University of Malaga, are also very attractive.
Held since 1964, the event is the oldest dedicated to these investigations in Cuba, and has decorated personalities such as Nobel Prize winner Roald Hoffman, from the US University of Cornell, who was invited here in 1991.
In the last 45 years, more than 300,000 chemistry professionals have graduated in Cuba.
More than 600 of them are doctors, representing the highest proportion in this category in exact, natural and technical sciences.
