Chess Dreev Leads Solo in Barcelona with Cuban Help
Dreev, first favourite to win this tournament because of his high ELO (2,670), achieved his fourth victory to accumulate 6 points, have a point ahead of Georgiev who could only draw against Cuban Hernandez (2,580) playing with white pieces and his usual Dame Pawn opening in 42 movements.

Meanwhile, the other Cuban player present at the Spanish tournament, Fidel Corrales (2,552) lost to American Boris Gulko who showed greater coordination and won in 43 movements with white pieces.

Also worth mentioning it is the undefeated former world champion Antoaneta Stefanova (2,548) who drew against Georgian Baduur Jobava.

One day remaining in the tournament the standings show Dreev with six points, followed by Georgiev, Gulko, Stefanova, Jobava in that order.
