Cuban FM in New York to Present Cuban Resolution against US Blockade
According to Granma news daily, Perez Roque will be presenting, for the 17th time, a resolution entitled ‘Necessity to End the Economic, Trade and Financial Blockade Imposed by the United States against Cuba’ that has been circulating at the UN General Assembly since last week and which is scheduled to be voted on during a plenary session of the international body tomorrow.

“The blockade is the main obstacle for the economic and social development of the country and it is a flagrant violation of the human rights of the Cuban people,” reads the Granma article.

At a conservative estimate, in 2007 alone, this punitive policy caused Cuba economic losses to the tune of nearly 3.8 billion dollars.

Since the blockade began, it has caused Cuba more than $93 billion in economic losses, a figure that would be equivalent to $224.4 billion, considering the current value of the dollar.
