In Bayamo Cuba National short story competition awarded
The narrations Miradas (Sights) by América Santoya (Granma), and Noviazgo (Courtship) by Gretel Quintero (City of Havana), reached the second and third place, respectively, among the fifty competing pieces.

The jury, made up by writers Luis Carlos Suárez, Ernesto Morales and Rafael Vilches, gave a mention to Biografía(Biography) by a great writer, by Clara Castillo and to Casa llena (Full House) by Leysa Martínez, both of them from Granma, while they also praised the quality of the other four finalists.

In the awarding ceremony, which took place in the central General García Street, in Bayamo, Suárez presented the 47th edition of the cultural supplement Vértice, from the provincial weekly newspaper La Demajagua, where the awarded pieces appeared published.

The competition, created in 1999 is sponsored every year by the already mentioned supplement, the Centro del Libro and the Hermanos Saíz Assosiation in Granma.

The event is the first specialized literary competition in the short story category in Cuba, and the only precedent to the international El Dinosaurio competition, promoted by the Onelio Jorge Cardoso National Literary Formation Center.
