The investment is part of a national program set for the restoration of 52 hospitals which will also be furnished with advanced technology.

This hospital renovation –which began in 2004- has been planned by stages so that the most important services are not closed. Nevertheless, the program was stopped for some time due to the hurricane Ike damages.

A new ophthalmology center has been already opened while the former maternity hospital is currently part of the complex.

At present moment, the surgical area is being completely repaired, which must be concluded by the first semester of 2009.
