A wire from the Cuban News Agency points out that this success was possible by means of a surgical technique that connects the internal hearing or cochlea with a reader of language that the patient can carry in his pocket.

Among the beneficiaries figure 22 deaf and blind people, the first of them eight years ago, and it is also included a girl of 11 months.

The piece of news says that people, once implanted, are subjected to a rehabilitation program in order to achieve an appropriate audition and to teach them the use of the language, especially in the case of the children.

In Cuba this type of surgical operations began at the end of last century, fundamentally in children and young people.
