Peregrino, Director of the Food and Beverages Department of the Havana Libre Tryp Hotel, said the Nobel Gourmand or Best of the Best Gourmand World Cookbooks & Wines Books award will be granted at the Old Opera House of Frankfort.

A report by Prensa Latina news agency says the jury –made up of experts from different countries- nominated the Cuban sommelier in recognition of his research career and the high quality of his publications about the gourmet world.

Peregrino, who is also the President of the Cuban Sommeliers’ Club, is the author of two books about wine and culinary art, which have won him top regional and world awards in two consecutive yeas -2005 and 2006. The titles of the books are “Mi pasion Gourmet” (My Gourmet Passion) and “Cono100do el vino” (Learning about Wine).

The Cuban sommelier is the only Latin American expert nominated for the prize.
