“A year ago, we held here the festival called Carnet de Viaje, with a big participation of artists from Santiago de Cuba. Now we have the pleasure to give you this distinction that is our key to the city,” commented Gatignon.
Moncada had been in Lisbon in response to an invitation given by the Portuguese Communist party (PCP in Portuguese) for the Avante Festival whose central theme in the international sphere was the fiftieth anniversary of the Cuban Revolution. In Avante, the group held two concerts, one of them in the Cuban Night and the other one in the Palco 25 de Abril, preceding the central act of the Festival. Hundreds of people assisted to both concerts, where flew Cuban flags.
