Cuban electrical workers returned electricity to 88 percent of the country
Engineer Ricardo Gonzalez, from the National Electrical Union, stated that the national electrical power system has been restored, although there are still four high-tension lines to repair.

Ike was the responsible for serious damages in the main lines, as well as 146 high-tension towers and another 87 of high level.

Generators, installed as part of the energy revolution program implemented by the Cuban government, have played an important role in the recovery process.

They allowed building 70 electrical microsystems viable to rapidly re-establish services, especially the eastern provinces and the Isle of Youth special municipality, Gonzalez said.

Electrical workers from several provinces are still working in those territories, severely devastated by those meteorological events.
