The Trianon theatre was the main venue of the festival. Multi-Grammy award winner Eliades Ochoa, a member of the Buena Vista Social Club, performed there with his Quartet ‘Patria’. Also representing Cuba at the musical event were the Ignacio Piñeiro National Septet, the Familia Valera Miranda and the Changui of Guantanamo.
Participants from other Caribbean islands included singer Dédé Saint-Prix, from Martinique and Puerto Rico’s Nostalgia Steel Band.
The "A Nous París" magazine published a three-page article this week entitled "Santiago de Cuba-La Habana: the musical route", which highlights the high quality and great prestige Cuban traditional music enjoys worldwide.
