A new DVD CD by the Cuban percussion quartet Los Papines
Entitled ‘Nunca es tarde si la Rumba es Buena’ (Its Never Late if the Rumba is Good), the audiovisual material also features conversations with dancers Cristy Domínguez and Santiago Alfonso, (National Dance Prize laureates in 2005 and 2006, respectively), with whom Los Papines have shared some of the world’s most prominent stages.

Musicologist María Teresa Linares said that the group’s greatest merit is to develop rumba into a cultural phenomenom.

Produced and compiled by Jorge Rodríguez of the Cuban Institute of Music, the Project is sponsored by the Cuban record company EGREM and Mundo Latino.

Los Papines, founded in 1957 by the Abreu brothers, are masters of several Cuban music genres like rumba and guaguanco.

Considered masters of Cuban percussion, the group has performed on several of the world’s top stages in France, Japan, Russia, Canada, Germany, Mexico and the United States.
