The provinces of Camaguey and Ciego de Avila are now in informative stage (prior to watch) and the rest of the provinces must follow with interest the information provided by the Cuban Weather Institute, the Civil Defense said in its latest report.

At 6 pm on Wednesday the center of Tropical Storm Gustav was estimated at 18,1 degrees north and 76.7 degrees west, some 25 km north-northeast of Kingston, Jamaica and some 215 km southeast of Cabo Cruz, in the Cuban eastern province of Granma.

Over the next 12 to 24 hours Gustav will continue moving west and then west-northwest, with increased forward speed. After leaving Jamaican territory tonight, Gustav will further intensify and become a hurricane in the western Caribbean Sea on Wednesday.
