According to Jose Rubiera, director of the Forecast Center of the Cuban Institute of Meteorology, current models of the storm"s development predicts that Gustav is expected to pass through Yucatan Channel, although discarding its passing through Cuba"s western provinces.

Although danger decreased considerably for east Cuba, Rubiera called for people to moderate optimism.

The expert recommended keeping alert on the development of the seven tropical phenomenon of the current season, prone to foster warm subtropical waters from the Caribbean Sea.
