The text contains five parts and eight chapters on Geography, Nipe-Sagua-Baracoa Orographic Group, Baracoa, Toa Expeditions (from 1945 to 1996), its 124 kilometer long rivers and 72 affluent, the threats of mining and the environmental options for mining-metal industry.
If Admiral Christopher Colombus has on his own right for centuries the title of the discoverer of Cuba, at least for Europeans, history has made him share the merit, rather an encounter between two cultures, with other important researchers.
So, baron Alexander von Humboldt, who traveled around the Island during his visits in 1800 and 1804, deserved from the famous teacher José de la Luz y Caballero the description of the second discoverer of Cuba.
Fernando Ortiz, the owner of a monumental work in every aspect of national life, was named the third one by the essay writer Juan Marinello.
Núñez Jiménez was the recipient in 1995 of the honor diploma that recognizes his as the fourth one. He was a revolutionary scientist who reached Havana in 1959, together with Commander Ernesto Che Guevara, with the grades of Captain from the Rebel Army.
