Both artists refused to reveal the name of either the record company or the recording studio that they are working with.
A world-famous jazz player, Valdés –who has shared the stage with other renowned jazz figures— said that he always loved Dyango’s style and his songs.
“He was always like family to us, especially to my mother. We had all his records,” said Valdés.
Dyango arrived in Cuba in mid June, as a special guest to the World Music Festival Varadero’2008. Later, Havana residents overcrowded the Karl Marx theatre, with capacity for five thousand people, during a one-night only concert.
Dyango also offered three recitals at the Meliá Cohiba Hotel. Tickets were sold out in less than 24 hours.
The Spanish artist is now immersed in recording this new CD of Boleros, with which he will repay an old debt to his Cuban fans and to himself.
