In a ceremony held at Havana's Revolution Square, the Chinese official laid a floral wreath before the monument to Jose Marti. Later, he visited the memorial in honor of the Cuban hero.

He Guoquiang, who arrived in Cuba on Sunday, is heading a high-level delegation on a visit that runs until Wednesday. He is to meet with leaders of the Cuban Communist Party and visit centers of economic and scientific interest in the provinces of Havana City and Matanzas.

Upon arriving in Havana the Chinese official said he was convinced that with the joint efforts of both parties, "this visit will be a full success."

In a written statement responding to an invitation by the Cuban Communist Party, He Guoqiang, said he was sure that the trip would achieve the objective of consolidating the traditional Chinese-Cuban friendship, as well as increasing political trust and promoting mutually beneficial cooperation.
