Padura has a peculiar conception of the literary event and actually does not know how high he can reach is his writer’s obsession.
This is his interview for Cubasi.cu
- 20 years ago, journalist Rolando Pérez Betancourt humbly commented to me: “I know Leonardo Padura since he was a child; he used to bring me his works. Now, as things stand I will have to give him mine for revision” What do you think about this?
- I’ve always said, and he knows it, that Rolando –Rolandito, how people called him in the neighborhood, Mantilla- was one of the people who helped me the most to shape an interest for literature, more than for journalism. He’s also one of the people whom I am fond of, grateful and admire the most eternally.
