Accompanied by Party leader Lázara Mercedes Lopez Acea and other local officials, Lazo visited the “Antonio Maceo” Agricultural Farm, one of the first in the province in the milk and meat production.
The delegation also visited the high density polyethylene tubes factory of (HOLPLAST), with an annual capacity of 10 thousand tons of processed raw materials. The plant has produced 500 kilometers of pipes used for the construction of pipelines and aqueduct networks in the country, and have saved about 3.5 million dollars in import substitution.
"We need to wage a battle to replace imports; it is essential is to combat the importer mentality," said Lazo after concluding a tour of the KTP Sugarcane Harvesting Machines Factory.
"We must rescue the historical memory; it is crucial for the defense of our country, because most Cubans were born after 1959 and have lived under the influence of the US blockade against Cuba. But we must also work towards an economic culture, be aware of the prices of oil and rice. We need to stress production, for it is the only way of attaining material prosperity," noted the Cuban vice president.
