28,000 mountain people from this Cuban central province celebrated 21 years of the Turquino Plan
Lorenzo assured Friday this important achievement is part of a careful attention from the Cuban central organizations.

In the mountains of Sancti Spiritus, more than 386,100 square miles, there is 6 percent of the population of the territory, in 10,000 houses.

Public health has 70 medical offices and nearly 180 nurses, policlinics and rural hospitals, where 150,000 people are taken care in a single year.

Electric energy reaches 99 percent of the homes, digital phones are getting spread among the population, and more than 5,000 students are studying in 80 centers from different levels, included university.

Seventy popular associations for elder people with a registration of nearly of 1,000 people are functioning here.

People here are dedicated to the production of coffee, food, cattle breeding and forest development.

The Turquino Plan in Sancti Spiritus counts on two mountain development organizations, in Guamuhaya and in Bamburanao, covering the municipalities of Trinidad, Fomento, Sancti Spiritus and Yaguajay.
