Labañino, one of the five Cubans held in US prisons for informing his country about terrorist plots against Cuba being organized from Florida, has been prevented from seeing his wife and three daughters during the last two years.
According to Granma newspaper, the Free the Five Committee issued a press release stating that Labañino's eldest daughter Aili was granted a US visa in January, but when she arrived to the Beaumont Prison in Texas, a lockdown was ordered and she could not see her father.
Ramon Labañino, Fernando Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero, Gerardo Hernandez and Rene Gonzalez have been held in US prisons since September 12, 1998, with sentences ranging from 15 years to double life.
The press release adds that Washington continues violating international law in the cases of Adriana Perez (the wife of Gerardo Hernandez) and Olga Salanueva (the wife of Rene Gonzalez), as they have been denied visas to see their husbands for nearly ten and eight years, respectively.
The Cuban Five case remains on appeal at the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta.
