Cuba to Expand Use of Anti-cancer Medicines in the Whole Country
"This program will benefit a group of patients who are not actually included in the clinical trials, due to the request of more than 500 specialists from across the country to use this therapy on people suffering from cancer who had no other alternative treatment," said the director.

Dr. Crombet, recently recognized with national and international awards in biology, said the program also includes research projects for the treatment of lung, breast, colon and cervical cancer. This will allow each patient who has received all available cancer therapies to also take advantage of other medicines developed in Cuba, whether a vaccine against cancer, a monoclonal or a combination of the two vaccines.

For this coming year, CIM has the goal of ensuring that the tests also are used in primary care, which will facilitate patient access to medicine in their own house without having to travel long distances.
