Machado expressed Cubas appreciation for the solidarity with the island shown by the Italian communists and personally by Diliberto, as Granma newspaper reported.
The Italian leader said his party supports and will continue to support all the initiatives of solidarity with the island. He stressed that Cubans are an example of resistance, both for Latin America and the rest
of the world.
Diliberto also spoke on the cause of the Cuban Five, unjustly imprisoned in the Untied States and condemned their incarceration. He said communists groups in Italy support efforts towards their release.
The other members of the visiting delegation are Iacopo Venier, Stefano Fidelli and Enrico Rocco, all leaders of the Italian Communist Party.
On Monday, the Italians met with Oscar Martinez from the international relations office of the Cuban Communist Party Central Committee and also toured Granma newspaper.
