Solidarity with the Cuban Five On The Rise in Australia
The Tom Mann Theater served as a venue for the forum in defense of "The Five," as the international campaign in support of their cause calls them.

The Cuban men were convicted in a rigged trial in Miami after they had infiltrated Florida-based anti-Cuba groups that organize and conduct criminal actions against the island nation.

According to a PL report, the activity in Australia started with the presentation of two testimonies delivered by family members of the antiterrorists. One of them was a documentary titled "Ivette," who is the daughter of prisoner Rene Gonzales.

The film was followed by the screening of a recent interview of Isabel Palmeiro, the wife of inmate Ramon Labañino, by a professor at the University of Sydney, Tim Anderson.

Professor Anderson gave a detailed explanation of the unfair legal process against the Cuban men and of their current situation.

The main speech was delivered by John Kaye, who is the lawyer and New South Wales deputy for the Green Party. He gave a detailed exposition of the actions taken by the U.S. to undermine the Cuban Revolution.

Likewise, Kaye pointed out Cuba's need and right to defend itself from U.S. aggression and terrorist acts, and he stressed that the activities held in support of the Cuban Five are legitimate.

Participants in the meeting signed postcards calling for the release of the men.
