The group will travel to South American country invited to the I Folklore International Festival From the End of the World, which is to take place in Santiago de Chile, the capital.
The tour will also include stops in another two important cities in Chile: Viña del Mar -famous for its tourist and cultural context- and Valparaíso, main sea port.
Directed by the engineer and choreographer Fernando Medrano, the group will interpret pieces related to central elements of the folklore of our island, including aspects brought by immigration flows from Haiti and Jamaica.
These shows are Cubanísimo, Por los campos de mi Cuba (Thropugh the fields of my Cuba), Homenaje (Tribute) and Caribe soy (I am the Caribbean).
Made up mostly by university students, Maraguán will perform once again abroad after achieving in the year 2007, in its previous tour, its greatest success, the gold medal in the Dijon International Competition, in France, one of the most important ones in folklore music and dance all over the world.
The group will come back to foreign stages from Latin America, which they visited last time in the year 2002 on its sixth visit to Mexico.
Founded in 1981, they have performed in more than 200 places from twelve countries from America and Europe.
