Poliomyelitis was eradicated in Cuba in 1962. The entire Cuban population under 61 years of age is protected against this disease.
Cuban newborns are vaccinated against serious preventable diseases such as polio, diphtheria, whooping cough, measles, rubella, neonatal tetanus, meningitis and tuberculosis.
