Andy Montañez and Manolito Simonet to Perform at Cubadisco 2008
The Tribuna Antimperialista is a historical site located on the Malecón seafront drive, right in front of the US Interests Section here in Havana, where Havana residents, representing the entire Cuban people, have carried out patriotic marches and open rallies to protest Washingtons hostile policy towards the Caribbean island.

The Cubadisco fair is considered the most important event of the Cuban music industry.

Andy Montañez will share the stage with Manolito Simonet y su Trabuco.

Two days before the fairs closing, on May 23rd, participants will pass along the popular 23rd avenue in the Havana neighborhood of El Vedado.

The announcement was made by Ciro Benemelis Durán, president of the organizing committee during a press conference at the José Antonio Echeverría University Students Club, which is this year serving as the main venue of Cubadisco. Also on hand were Abel Acosta Culture Deputy Minister and President of the Cuban Music Institute and Joel Queipo, member of the National Bureau of the Young Communist League (UJC).

This years event is dedicated to Africa and its descendants in the Americas. Twelve culture ministers and numerous artists from the African continent and the Caribbean have confirmed their participation at Cubadisco 2008.

Guinea Bissaus Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports María Aduatu Djalo Nandingna announced that she will attend, accompanied by singers Dulce Neves, Sanba Kanute and José Lópes, and several culture promoters.

Also on hand will be the Folk Dance Company of Alexandria (Egypt), the Nigerian group Drame-Dance, the group of Senegalese musician Alboury Dabo, Josiah Kinlock from the Bahamas, the Grenadian steel band Commancheros and a musical group, representing the Carnival of Trinidad.
