Some 300, 000 people have reseived surgical intervention in the Cuban Center of Eye Microsurgery
Of that amount, more than 70, 000 patients from 25 countries have recovered their vision by means of the Miracle Operation, an unquestionable achievement of the System of Public Health in Cuba.

A wire from the Cuban News Agency points out that the microsurgery center has seven surgical rooms, with capacity for 70 daily surgeries and only in 2007 it made over 11, 000 interventions of that type.

As part of the 20th anniversary of the institution, a scientific forum is taking place in the Havana 's Convention Center, with the participation of 350 delegates from Cuba, Colombia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil.

Among the achievements that Cuba exposes in the appointment figure the evaluation of newfangled technologies, the studies on new perspectives of surgical operations of the cataract, and the affections of the cornea.

The Center of Eye Microsurgery has top technologies for the treatment of that type of eye affections, included ultrasound, special microscopes, corneal topographers and equipments for the surgical activity, while its specialists continue the development line in the medical and surgical treatment of the eye affections with emphasis in the treatment of the cataracts by means of new surgical techniques, the implant refractive surgery and the corneal affections.
